Ingibjörg Ýr Skarphéðinsdóttir, Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir and Ragnheiður Erla Björnsdóttir met during their studies at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. They formed the ensemble Hlökk in the year 2015 and started out by performing Icelandic folk songs, improvisations and their own compositions along with old poetry. Now the ensemble has developed into the art ensemble Hlökk where they use different types of art forms, mainly music, visual arts and creative writing, to create new compositions. Their first album, Hulduhljóð, received the Kraumur awards in 2019. The album is also nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards as album of the year in open category.
